The Disaffected: The Disengaged: The Disruptive
The Motivated School programme, devised by Alan McLean, Education Psychologist and author of ‘Motivating Every Learner’, has been a catalyst for a fresh way of thinking that focuses on getting every pupil engaged. It has provided a common language that has facilitated a continual dialogue about teaching.
The Motivated School has helped in particular to focus on the climate for learning, created by the teacher/pupil relationships. It has encouraged teachers to take responsibility for what happens in their classrooms. It has helped develop a participative whole school ethos.
The programme for this day will be delivered by Alan McLean and Caroline Amos, Head Teacher of Paisley Grammar School. Caroline has been working with Alan to develop this whole school approach in Paisley Grammar School, to great effect.
Want to know more about The Motivated School? This seminar will provide you with the opportunity to learn about the strategies from the person who developed this approach and to hear from a Head Teacher who has put the theory into practice. The day will provide you with the chance to ask questions of Alan and Caroline about this approach and it will provide you with the invaluable opportunity to work and discuss issues with colleagues from other schools.
At the end of this day you will have enough knowledge, understanding and materials to go back to your schools and introduce the Motivated Schools Programme.
