For schools that want to ensure their staff are best prepared to successfully implement CfE this event will offer practical tools, challenging approaches and opportunities for discussions with colleagues from other schools. Michael Kearns of Uxl combines his experience of working with business and schools to help transform people’s behaviour to achieve greater success.
Three main elements will be explored over the course of the day: Leadership , Innovation and Change. The introduction of CfE is often cited as the biggest ever change to Scottish education. Causing change is far more successful and enjoyable than being effected by it. Innovation is actively making changes to improve your school. For change and innovation to be successful you require great leadership across your school.
The most successful leaders invest in strengths, surround themselves with the right people, maximise their team and understands the needs all of the people in their organsation. The starting point to achieving greater success is a deep understanding of your own strengths. Michael will provide a range of tools to help you gain this deeper understanding of your own leadership, innovation and thinking skills. He will then present several tools that enables you to look at the strengths, of your management teams and the staff across your school. Ultimately your aim is to gain a deeper understanding of the strengths of your school to decide how best to exploit the opportunities offered by the introduction of CfE.
Extensive research carried out by Gallup found that when an organisation’s leadership fails to focus on individual’s strengths the chances of them being engaged are 1:11(9%). But when the leadership focuses on the strengths of their staff the chances soar to almost 3:4 (73%). How engaged are your staff in the aims of your school? This event will provide you with a range of tools to help you find out and to make the improvements necessary for greater success.
